Lucas Bergvall has quickly made himself part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Tottenham Hotspur following his arrival this summer.

Tottenham signed the midfielder back in the January transfer window for a fee of around £8.5 million from Djurgarden.

The North London club faced fierce competition from FC Barcelona for his signature who fought very hard to get him.

Bergvall spent the remainder of last season back on loan with the Swedish club and aged just 18, he continued to impress in the Swedish top-flight.

The teenager has appeared off the bench in all three of Spurs’ Premier League matches so far. Following his first three months in North London, the Swede has given his honest verdict of how he has found life in the Premier League.

Bergvall enjoying life at Tottenham

Bergvall has admitted that he is enjoying life at Tottenham so far having had a strong pre-season with Ange Postecoglou’s squad.

The 18-year-old made a big impact on tour in Asia with his performances catching the eye of the club’s supporters. Bervall also made an impressive league debut against Leicester.

It is clear that Postecoglou rates the midfielder and is giving him plenty of opportunities to bed him into the team whilst also not rushing anything.

He has just been named in the latest Swedish squad for Nation League matches against Azerbaijan and Estonia.

Bervall told Aftonbladet: “I don’t know what my expectations were before, to be honest. I came to a tough but fun pre-season. It was very new. I just wanted to start playing football again after the holiday break. The only thing I knew was that it would be tough.

“It became motivation when I came to a new league with new people, new teammates, new coaches, new facilities, diet, training, physical activity, everything.”

Bergvall admits the Premier League is tough

Bergvall believes that he made big steps during his time at Hotspur Way so far but also admits that the level of the Premier League has shocked him.

He said: “It feels like I have taken very big steps these two months. I get into it more and more and have been able to adapt more to the game that is played in the Premier League.

“The quality of the players and the teams you face. It’s incredible quality, everywhere. It is not possible to make that many mistakes or any mistakes at all. You must always be ready. This is the case regardless of where you play, but now it can be punished a little easier,” the Swedish international added.
