Tottenham are firmly in the relegation dog fight and currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League, having failed to win any of their top-flight games in 2026.

Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland has given Roberto De Zerbi a stark reminder of just how much of a challenge he faces if he’s to keep Tottenham in the Premier League this season.

😡 VOTE for Tottenham’s WORST player vs Sunderland…

Spurs are on their third manager this season, and with Brighton and Wolves to come next, De Zerbi will know that there is a golden chance to put some points on the board in the coming weeks.

After the latest defeat, pundits are starting to discuss Tottenham’s situation, and now, former Premier League player Landon Donovan has weighed in on the debacle.

Landon Donovan thinks Tottenham are going down

The situation at Tottenham is perilous right now and Donovan has said on the Unfiltered Soccer podcast that he feels the club will be relegated to the Championship.

A discussion was had on the number of points that the battling teams will all get and Donovan doesn’t feel as though Spurs will catch Forest or West Ham.

He said: “I think Spurs, six games left. I think they get six points. And I think the other two, Forest and West Ham, get five points, which is not enough.

“I think they’re going down, they haven’t won a game now for so long and I’m not even sure when they last managed to get three points in the Premier League.”

Tottenham face Brighton in De Zerbi’s first home game in charge at the weekend, with the Seagulls sitting top of the form table in the Premier League.

The situation really is depressing from a Tottenham perspective, and if points aren’t obtained from the next two games, Spurs might sink without trace this season.
