Tottenham board could be under extra pressure to sack Thomas Frank

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed what he has heard from the Spurs board about the future of Frank.

Given recent performances and results, pressure is mounting on the former Brentford manager.

Fans have also grown impatient with his methods and are demanding improvement or change.

However, Frank continues to retain the support of the board, but they are aware of the fans’ reaction towards him.

If they lose to West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, it could put extra pressure on the board to make a decision on sacking him.

As things stand, they are backing the manager.

Pitt-Brooke told the Athletic FC Podcast: “So far, everything we’ve heard is that they’re very supportive. Their position of support and patience for the manager, I think, has been clear for some time. I’ve always thought that the biggest challenge would not so much be the results or even the football, but the mood inside the stadium.

“So hypothetically, if Saturday goes badly for Spurs and the fans are very grumpy as I would expect them to be, if they were to lose to West Ham at home, then I imagine that that would exert extra pressure on the board. But for now, all the indications are that the board are continuing patience with Thomas Frank.”

Will Spurs consider a change in the summer?

At the end of the season, a number of managers could be on the move, with their contracts at their respective teams expiring.

Mauricio Pochettino will also be available as his deal with the United States national team runs until the World Cup.

Oliver Glasner will also be available and Spurs may well consider bringing in the Crystal Palace manager.

Frank will be backed by the January transfer window, with Conor Gallagher already arriving from Atletico Madrid.
