Seven years have now passed since Tottenham Hotspur played their final game at White Hart Lane against Manchester United.

It was subbed The Lane, The Finale by the club as Tottenham‘s 118-year stay in their north London home came to an end.

And the club’s stay at White Hart Lane was given the send-off it deserved as Spurs went the full season unbeaten on home soil.

Goals from Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side cap off that record with a 2-1 victory over Manchester United before the party began.

A lot has changed over the seven years since Spurs played their final game at The Lane as they’ve since played at both Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Hugo Lloris – LAFC

After spending over a decade at Tottenham, Hugo Lloris’ time in north London came to an end earlier this season when he made the move to LAFC.

Guglielmo Vicario was brought in over the summer from Empoli as the Frenchman’s long-term successor.

However, the World Cup-winning goalkeeper played a huge role in the club’s recent history and he did captain the side out on their final ever outing at White Hart Lane.

Kieran Trippier – Newcastle United

Kieran Trippier started ahead of Kyle Walker on the day but was replaced by the current Manchester City right-back later on in the game.

But he was given the nod and played almost the entirety of the game with Walker only coming on for the final seven minutes.

Trippier’s exit from Spurs came back in 2019 when he made the move to Atletico Madrid and he now plays his football at Newcastle United.

Toby Alderweireld – Royal Antwerp

Since leaving Tottenham in 2021 for Qatar, Toby Alderweireld has since returned to Europe and now plays for Royal Antwerp.

The Belgian scored a stunning last-minute winner on the final day of last season to secure the Belgian title for his current side.

Alderweireld is now 35-years-old and has just one year remaining on his deal with the Belgian side.

Jan Vertonghen – RSC Anderlecht

Similarly to his former centre-back partner, Jan Vertonghen has now returned to his motherland where he plays for RSC Anderlecht.

The 37-year-old is out of contract is a matter of weeks, so it will be interesting to see where his future lies.

However, he will be expected to add to his 154 caps for Belgium at this summer’s Euros.

Ben Davies – Tottenham

With Danny Rose missing out a large chunk of the season through a serious knee injury, Ben Davies stepped in for the former Spurs left-back.

The Welshman was able to provide the assist for the opening goal with a teasing cross for Wayama to head home.

Davies is still at Tottenham, but there are serious question marks over his future under Ange Postecoglou ahead of the summer.

Eric Dier – Bayern Munich

Before playing at solely at centre-back, Eric Dier was played in the central defensive midfield role by Pochettino.

It was a role which the 30-year-old shone in during the 2016/17 campaign where he made 17 of his 48 appearances that season from.

Dier’s time quickly came to an end in north London after Postecoglou’s arrival and he now finds himself at Bayern Munich.

Victor Wanyama – Montreal

The 2016/17 campaign was Wanyama’s first in north London after making the move from Southampton.

Wanyama managed to find the back of the net four times in the Premier League that season and he netted the opener in what was a historic day in the club’s history.

Leaving Spurs in 2020, the Kenyan midfielder has since played his football in the MLS with Canadian outfit Montreal where he has a matter of months remaining on his deal.

Christian Eriksen – Manchester United

Shortly after the break, Tottenham doubled their lead through the club’s record goalscorer and it was Christian Eriksen who provided the assist from a free-kick.

The Dane was Tottenham’s creative playmaker during this period and his crosses were often pin point.

Currently playing at Manchester United, it looks likely Eriksen will seek a new challenge in the summer as he struggles for game time under Erik ten Hag.

Dele Alli – Everton

Part of the famous DESK front four, Dele Alli really hit his top level during the 2016/17 campaign where he returned 22 goals and 12 assists.

Now on the books at Everton, the Englishman is targeting a return to the England squad for the 2026 World Cup at a new club when he leaves the Toffees this summer.

Heung-min Son – Tottenham

Only the second remaining player from the starting XI who is still at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Heung-min Son wasn’t able to find the back of the net on this occasion.

The South Korean has now become the club’s fifth-highest goalscorer in the club’s history as he captains the current side.

Only one player remains on this list and it is the striker who Son formed the Premier League’s great partnership with…

Harry Kane – Bayern Munich

Tottenham’s record goalscorer scored the goal which turned out to be the winner on this day, five years ago.

What Kane went on to achieve in north London goes without saying as the club go into the summer looking for his potential successor.

After joining Bayern last summer, Kane’s individual brilliance has been unable to bring Thomas Tuchel’s side a trophy as his personal drought rolls on.
