Tottenham Hotspur made a number of exciting signings over the summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to put together a top team for the present and future.

Although Spurs remain a work in progress, it’s clear what Postecoglou is trying to achieve at the club and, on their day, they can beat anybody.

Tottenham cult hero Michael Dawson has now singled out one Spurs summer signing for praise, saying he has “all the faith” in him.

Michael Dawson a ‘big fan’ of Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke

The player in question is Dominic Solanke, who joined Tottenham from Bournemouth for a club-record £65million in August.

Solanke needed a little time to find his feet at Spurs, with an injury halting his progress early on in the campaign.

The England international then went on to register three goals from consecutive games and has also been chipping in with assists.

Although Solanke hasn’t scored or assisted since the loss to Brighton on 6 October, Dawson is convinced it won’t be long before he’ll be at his best.

He also suggested that perhaps Postecoglou should look to “sacrifice a little bit” of his work-rate demands in order to get him closer to goal.

“His work-rate is unbelievable,” Dawson said on Sky Sports News (2/11/2024, 1:23pm). “Maybe sacrifice a little bit of that and get in the middle of those posts.

“Look, he was a big signing, expectations. He will come good. I have all the faith in Dominic Solanke, I am a big fan of him, I really really am.”

Solanke brings so much more to Tottenham than just goals

While it would be good to see Solanke get more goals, there’s no denying that he contributes so much more than just that to Spurs.

His link-up play, pressing, hold up play, and movement have all been outstanding, and he did contribute in the win over Man City with a superb pass to set Timo Werner on his way.

Tottenham are a work in progress at present and Solanke is certainly doing his bit. Surely it won’t be long until he adds goals to his game at N17 and then he becomes truly lethal.
