Tottenham Hotspur captain Heung-min Son has provided an insight on what lies ahead of him after he leaves Spurs.

The South Korean currently is set to go into the summer with just one year remaining on his current deal.

And the international break has provided him with an opportunity to speak about what his future may potentially hold.

What Son said about life after Spurs?

One thing which is apparent, Tottenham do not want the 31-year-old’s spell at the club to come to an end soon.

Although he may have just one year left on his deal, Spurs are said to be stepping up talks over a contract extension.

Heung-min Son has shown no signs of slowing down this season with 22 goal involvements in the Premier League alone.

However, speaking to Harper’s Bizarre, he has commented on retirement and what lies ahead of him away from the pitch. He said: “Yes, I don’t think this feeling [walking away from football completely] will change in my lifetime. It’s a promise to me and a decision I’ve already made. I love soccer, but I don’t have the ability to teach it to others, and I love the moment I kick the ball myself.”

What Darren Bent said about Son to Real Madrid

Although he has had to adapt to a lot since the summer; the managerial appointment of Ange Postecoglou and the exit of Harry Kane, Son is showing no signs of slowing down.

And as his contract edges ever nearer to its potential conclusion next year, TalkSPORT’s Darren Bent said he is a player still worth £80m.

Although he has proven himself to be one of the Premier League’s top wingers, the former Spurs striker admitted he is stunned not to hear of any interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

He said: “£70m/£80m for Son. What a player he is. Unless we don’t hear about it, I’ve never heard Real Madrid go for Son.”

However, Spurs will not mind in the slightest as their captain now nears 400 appearances in a Spurs shirt.

In those games he has been able to return a staggering 159 goals and 88 appearances across all competitions.

But it is apparent there is a lot more to the South Korean than just his goals.

Away from the pitch, he is taking on this captaincy role by nurturing thr younger players like Brennan Johnson.

Son has already admitted he is trying to help the Welshman develop; perhaps as his long-term successor in north London.
