Harry Redknapp has tipped Archie Gray to achieve great things at Tottenham after what he has seen from him.

Gray joined Spurs from Leeds United in July 2024 for a fee between £25m and £30m and has grown from strength to strength since then.

Initially being signed for his potential, his versatility has seen him become a first-team regular as he has played in a number of positions since his move to North London.

Harry Redknapp tips Archie Gray to captain Tottenham in the future

Redknapp believes that Gray has what it takes to become the captain of Tottenham in the future.

The former Spurs manager has been impressed by his attitude and work ethic, as he points out that he is not one to moan.

He was also impressed with how versatile the 20-year-old has been, as he has played in multiple positions.

Speaking on Could It Be Magic, Redknapp said: “He’s done fantastic.

“He’s played in every position that kid, he doesn’t moan.

“He’s captain isn’t he?

“He has to be the captain of Tottenham surely? He has to be the future captain.”

Cristian Romero is the current captain of the Lilywhites, but he could be parting ways with the club in the summer.

James Maddison is the vice captain, so he could become the de facto captain in that scenario.

Will Gray stay if Spurs get relegated?

Gray is expected to be among the Spurs players likely to have a number of suitors in case the team gets relegated.

He’s 20, versatile, Premier League proven and a future England international – making him a welcome signing for every side in the top flight.

While he may not strengthen the eleven of two or three teams, each side would love to have a player like him on the books.

However, his contract at Tottenham runs until 2030, so despite relegation, the club could demand a hefty transfer fee.

Also, they could try to convince him to stay for another year and promise a lucrative new contract should they get promoted.

He is already loved by the fans and if he stays despite relegation, he could go on to become one of the most influential players in their history.
