Harry Kane sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Toney after England’s game against Belgium last night.

Tottenham are yet to sign a striker since Harry Kane’s departure last summer but it very much remains on the agenda at Spurs.

It was claimed earlier this week that Tottenham scouts would be in attendance to watch Ivan Toney for England on Tuesday evening.

The 27-year-old marked his first start for the Three Lions with a goal after winning and then scoring a penalty in the first half.

With Kane currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, the former Spurs star missed out on both friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. But he was quick to congratulate Toney after last night’s draw at Wembley.

Kane took to X after last night’s game and congratulated Toney on netting his first goal for England.

He wrote: “Great fighting spirit from the lads to keep pushing until the end. Congrats on the first England goal Ivan Toney and to Declan Rice on your 50th cap and leading the team out.”

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison was also in action at Wembley last night as he got 17 minutes under his belt.

After he was an unused substitute against Brazil over the weekend, Maddison came off the bench to provide a crucial assist for Jude Bellingham in stoppage time.

Toney would be the ideal Kane replacement

Despite Heung-min Son’s exceptional form as a No9 this season, Spurs are still lacking an out-and-out striker.

Richarlison has also stepped up this term by netting 10 Premier League goals but Toney would be an excellent option for Spurs.

The Bees striker boasts similar attributes to Kane due to his ability to hold the ball up and bring his teammates into the game.

Toney also has a keen eye for goal and has netted 36 times in 76 Premier League games for Brentford.

While his recent openness about his desire to leave the Gtech Community Stadium may have put some fans off a move for him, there’s no doubt the £60 million man would improve Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
