Tottenham Hotspur scouts will be in attendance at Wembley Stadium tonight to watch a target for the summer in action.

Ange Postecoglou will be looking to bolster his squad over the coming months with European football likely to be on the menu for next season.

And it seems the Lilywhites will be eyeing up a potential new striker on Tuesday night when they watch England vs Belgium at the national stadium.

Tottenham scouts watching Ivan Toney for England

Ahead of the game on Tuesday, it has been claimed Ivan Toney will be given the nod by Gareth Southgate over Ollie Watkins.

The England manager has been given an opportunity to assess his options up top following Harry Kane’s latest ankle injury.

This will also provide a number of teams with the opportunity to scout the Brentford striker as Sports Lens report several teams will be in attendance for the game.

Spurs are not alone in their believed interest in the striker; the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to be eyeing the 28-year-old.

His future at Brentford looks to be done going into the summer with Thomas Frank already admitting the expectation is for him to move on.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Ivan Toney

Following his lengthy ban, Spurs have only come up against the England international once this season.

However, he did manage to find the back of the net in the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this year.

Despite missing a large chunk of the season, Toney has returned in fine form having already netted four goals in his 10 appearances for the struggling Bees.

And Postecoglou has not shied away from praising the 28-year-old already this season, the Australian said: “Yeah look I think he’s a fantastic player and you can see just how important he is to that Brentford team. He changes it almost overnight.

“They’ve obviously been going through a rough trot in terms of results in recent times, and they’ve obviously had their fair share of injuries. But as soon as he comes into that team he gives them a different look, both as a player but also the presence he had.”

Toney’s impressive 2022/23 season saw him net 20 goals in the Premier League which may provide Spurs some intrigue as to what he could achieve in Postecoglou’s system.

However, he is 28-years-old now which may suggest he is not quite a long-term option if it is to be thought he could offer just a few more years at his peak.

The Spurs News has already been told Richarlison could be moved on in the summer if the right offer is to land.

But would Toney provide Spurs the best option this summer as they search for their long-term Kane successor?
