‘Good news’… Tottenham fans react after hearing who’s rumoured to be starting v Coventry

Tottenham Hotspur will be eager to make amends for their North London derby loss when they face Coventry City away in the League Cup.

Spurs will head to the Championship side’s stadium on Wednesday night in hope of progressing in the competition as they chase their first major trophy since 2008.

Tottenham made the same mistakes against Arsenal as they lacked cutting edge up front, while their set-piece frailties were exposed once again for the visitors’ winner.

Ange Postecoglou’s charges must now be mindful of an opponent eager to produce a giant-killing and pile the pressure on the manager.

Although Tottenham aren’t expected to make too many changes for the game, it has been reported that one of their top youngsters is in line to start.

Tottenham reportedly set to start Archie Gray v Coventry

According to GiveMeSport, Spurs have decided to give Archie Gray his competitive debut for the club in the trip to Coventry.

Postecoglou apparently sees it as a ‘low-risk strategy’ as the 18-year-old impressed at Championship level last season.

Tottenham are delighted at having won the race for Gray’s signature and now want him to start securing regular game time.

The report has gone down well with Spurs fans, though some feel he shouldn’t have had to wait so long for his first competitive start for the club.

Gray a star in the making

It’s not very often that a player comes along and, at just 18 years of age, has already clocked up over half a century of senior appearances for a second-tier club and has played in the Premier League.

Gray is certainly a special player and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop at Tottenham. If all goes well, there’s no reason he can’t be a regular starter by the end of the season.
