Tottenham Hotspur got their Europa League campaign off to a flyer with a 3-0 victory over Qarabag FK, although the scoreline didn’t really reflect the performance.
Spurs suffered another early setback in a match when Radu Dragusin was sent off in the seventh minute for bringing down Juninho as the last man.
However, Tottenham soon took the lead, Brennan Johnson slotting the ball in across the goalkeeper and into the bottom-left corner after great work from Dominic Solanke.
Pape Matar Sarr then doubled the Lilywhites’ lead in the 52nd minute, side-footing in at the back post after Dejan Kulusevski’s corner wasn’t properly cleared.
Solanke went on to make it two in two for Spurs as he slotted home in the 68th minutes after Mateusz Kochalski parried a shot into his path.
Tottenham did well to win so handsomely and record a clean sheet as Qarabag regularly threatened and went on to win a penalty, though they missed.
All in all, there were a fair few positives from Spurs, including the performance of one of their young talents that has led fans to say he’s a future superstar.

Archie Gray stuns Tottenham fans
The player in question is Archie Gray, who continues to go from strength to strength for Tottenham since his summer move from Leeds United.
Alasdair Gold gave the 18-year-old a 7 out of 10 rating and wrote on football.london: “Put in a real shift at right-back and tried to get Spurs up the pitch as well even with 10 men.
“It’s not his ideal position but he’s getting plenty of minutes there and he’s getting sharper. Looked like he picked up a late painful knock but was running it off in the final minutes.”
Here is what Tottenham fans said about Gray’s display on the day:
