George Weah stuns Tottenham fans at Ballon d’Or ceremony with what he had to say about Spurs and Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur inadvertently took centre stage at the Ballon d’Or ceremony as Geroge Weah made a big revelation about the club before presenting the prestigious award.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri became the first Premier League player to win the Ballon d’Or since Cristiano Ronaldo won it back in 2008 as a Manchester United player.

Weah was the man who was given the honour of presenting the award having won it himself back in 1995 as the only African representative to have done so.

Just before presenting the Spaniard with the trophy, the footballing legend stunned Tottenham fans with what he had to say about the North London club.

George Weah stunned Tottenham supporters by revealing that he too is a Spurs fan and has been since he was a child.

The legendary AC Milan forward was asked who is a player that has impressed him in particular and he responded by pointing to Harry Kane.

He admitted he loves Kane because he is a striker just like he was and secondly, for all the goals he scored for Spurs.

The former Spurs man was in attendance at the ceremony as he was presented with the Gerd Müller Trophy for being the best striker in the world.

Speaking on stage at the Ballon d’Or ceremony, Weah said: “This is one of the players I love, I’m a fan of Mr.Kane when he was playing for my team.

“I believe that he’s a very strong and a very clever striker and I have supported Tottenham since I was a kid and I love him.”

Tottenham supporters couldn’t believe that they never knew that Weah was a fan of their club and have taken to social media

One Spurs supporter said: “The whole world watching to see the Rodri/Vincius robbery and George Weah is just going on about Spurs, we are that club.”

“George Weah is a Tottenham fan!? I knew there was a deeper reason why I loved him,” added another supporter.

Kaka recently labelled Tottenham a “big club” and this Spurs fan couldn’t believe now Weah was speaking fondly about the club: “Kaka and Weah both revealing their love for Spurs within two days, we’re massive.”
