Tottenham Hotspur are currently in a period of transition, with Ange Postecoglou having been tasked with turning Spurs’ fortunes around.

The Lilywhites haven’t had much luck in recent years, with a succession of managers – including some big names – failing to get Tottenham back to the top.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs challenged for the Premier League title and even reached the 2019 Champions League final.

Since then, the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte have taken the Tottenham reins, but without much success.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has regularly found himself under criticism for the club’s lack of success, even with managers who have won plenty elsewhere.

Now, Gary Neville has shared what he thinks the Tottenham chief has in mind for Spurs as he discussed the club’s long-term vision.

Gary Neville thinks Daniel Levy wants to sell Tottenham

Neville, speaking on It’s Called Soccer, said he thinks Levy is trying to sell the club outright.

He said: “If Tottenham had won four trophies in the past 10 years, that would be a fantastic period for Tottenham.

“If Ange can win an FA Cup this year and build on that with maybe a League Cup or a top four finish, that’s a successful period.

“You’re up against giants as Tottenham. They’re probably trying to sell the club I would imagine.

“They’re probably trying to bring in this huge owner to fund the team and spend the money that the Chelsea’s the Manchester United’s, City’s and Arsenal’s have spent.

“That will not happen under the current ownership.”

What has Levy said about Tottenham’s future?

Back in September, Levy confirmed that Spurs are in the market for some form of minority investment with the club looking for a bigger capital base.

Speaking at Tottenham’s Fan Forum on September 23, Levy said: “We announced with our last results that we believe this club needs a bigger capital base because we’ve got a lot of exciting projects on the horizon and we want to make further investment in the team.

“Some form of minority investment is what we’re looking for. We’ve got nothing to announce at the moment but we are in the market.”

Amanda Staveley has been credited with an interest in investing in Tottenham and, in October, Matt Slater shared what he knows about the situation on The Athletic FC Podcast.

“She is certainly out there and she’s not being particularly private about it. Looking to raise more money for her next football venture and that is Spurs,” Slater said.

“Now, none of that is in dispute. She’s talking to everybody. Talking to Qataris, as I said, Saudis, North Americans.

“She’s trying to put together a fund. She’s running around telling people she has that fund. I again speak to people in the industry all the time who say that’s not quite true.

“She might have some expressions of interest, but it will be very much a sort of kind of, well, let’s see who else you get. Let’s see what sort of price you get out of Daniel. Let’s see where we go with this.”
