Gary Neville has admitted he was surprised by a decision Harry Kane made when opting to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
Many expected Harry Kane to see out the rest of his career in the Premier League. Instead, the England skipper surprised the footballing world by joining Bayern Munich last summer.
Before completing a £100 million switch to Munich, Kane had broken Tottenham’s all-time goals record, overtaking legendary striker Jimmy Greaves.
The 30-year-old was also closing in on Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record.

Kane had netted a staggering total of 213 goals during his time in north London, leaving him just 47 behind Shearer before moving to the Bundesliga.
And it’s for this reason that Gary Neville was surprised Kane opted for a move away from England last year.
Neville shocked by Kane’s decision
Speaking on The Overlap, Neville discussed Kane’s decision to swap Tottenham for Munich.
“I never thought he would go to Munich, I never thought he would leave the country, I thought he was destined to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record,” Neville said. “Do you still think he has got this in his mind, that he’s coming back to break the Premier League record?”
“As long as he comes back to Arsenal he will have a chance,” Ian Wright joked.
“He is not going there! I just didn’t think he would go,” Neville went on. “For me the England record, I thought he would be that hung up about it, I thought he would go to a Premier League club to break the record.
“He may have had to go abroad to escape to come back.”

It was certainly a surprise to see Kane leave England after being so close to Shearer’s all-time Premier League record.
Yet, Spurs fans were happier to see the striker move abroad rather than joining a direct rival.
Kane had just 12 months left on his deal by the time he left Spurs and he could have easily waited another year to secure a big move in England.
Kane injury update
Tottenham fans will be hoping to see Kane knock Arsenal out of the Champions League with Bayern next month.
The striker had picked up an ankle injury before the international break, which would have been ‘worrying’ news for England and Bayern.
Despite missing out on minutes for England, the former Spurs star completed individual training in Munich earlier this week.
