Tottenham Hotspur have steadied the ship over the past 10 days, winning three games in a row and setting themselves up nicely for the next few matches.

Spurs got past Coventry City in the League Cup last week before beating Brentford in the Premier League and hammering Qarabag in the Europa League this week.

Admittedly, Tottenham suffered initial setbacks in each of those games, but they showed resolve to eventually get the better of their opponents.

For instance, Spurs may have beaten Qarabag 3-0, but they played most of the game with ten men after Radu Dragusin was sent off for a last-man challenge.

The champions of Azerbaijan threatened Tottenham on numerous occasions and missed a penalty that would’ve made it 2-1.

A number of players did well in the match, such as Archie Gray, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke.

On the flip side, there was heartbreak for Lucas Bergvall, who was taken off after Dragusin’s sending off to shore up the defence.

Tottenham legend Gary Mabbutt has now spoken about both youngsters, in conversation with talkSPORT on Friday.

Gary Mabbutt hails Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray

Mabbutt admitted he felt sorry for Bergvall – who had to make way for defender Destiny Udogie so early on in the game – and said he’s a great player for the future.

Likewise, Mabbutt praised Gray, saying he had a “great game” and did a “fantastic job” on the right of defence.

“I feel sorry for Lucas Bergvall,” said Mabbutt.

“When Radu got sent off, changes had to be made and the manager also brought on Udogie to bring in a back-four and had to take off Lucas. (He) is a great player for the future.

“Archie had a great game last night. He did a fantastic job on the right-hand side.”

Gray’s performance earned plaudits from Spurs fans after the game, with one saying he is “going to be a star no matter where he plays”.
