Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has now shared his very honest thoughts on Ange Postecoglou’s tenure so far.

The curtain has been drawn on the 2023/24 campaign with Tottenham earning themselves a fifth-placed finish.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been a successful one with European football returning for next season.

However, that is not to say there haven’t been areas which clearly need improving over the summer transfer window.

After all, Spurs did only manage to win two of their final six games in the Premier League which ultimately cost them a spot in the top four.

One man who knows all about qualifying for the Champions League with Spurs is the club legend Gareth Bale who has now been retired from football for a number of months.

And the Welshman has now issued his thoughts on the club’s direction under Postecoglou after his first term in charge.

Gareth Bale issues his honest thoughts on what he’s seen from Ange Postecoglou

There have been a number of improvements at Tottenham since the end of the 2022/23 campaign which saw Spurs finish in eighth.

The quality of football has dramatically improved despite the club losing one of their greatest-ever players in Harry Kane.

Spurs are yet to bring in a direct replacement for the England captain with Richarlison the club’s recognised striker going into the campaign.

However, the additions Postecoglou did bring in like Micky van de Ven, paired with the work he did with the players he inherited put Spurs on their way to a much improved 2023/24 season.

And that is something which Bale has clearly noticed when watching from afar with the Welshman hailing the Australian in a recent interview with The Independent.

“I think they’ve had a very successful season. The biggest problem was that they started so well and the expectation went too much and too soon. It was a bit unfair,” Bale said.

“Ange has done an incredible job. Losing Harry [Kane] was going to be a massive loss, the amount of goals you lose.

“So to be able to finish higher than in previous seasons speaks massive volumes of how well the manager has done. He has also got them playing the Tottenham way.

“I went back again this season and it was very enjoyable to watch. Ange is definitely the right man for the job.”

Gareth Bale shares Tottenham prediction for next season

There were a lot of things for Tottenham fans to get excited about ahead of next season and the summer transfer window could add to that.

Tottenham are believed to be in the market for a new striker this summer following the sale of Kane last year.

And a strong transfer window is what Bale feels Spurs need if they are going to progress under Postecoglou.

“If they can have a great transfer window this summer, which I’m sure they will, they’ll be in a better place next season,” he said.

There is no suggestion that Daniel Levy won’t provide Postecoglou with what he wants over the summer.

The progress is there for all to see and, it has to be said, he has been backed in the two transfer windows he has had so far.

Of course, everyone would want more signings, but realistically speaking, Tottenham have brought in a good number of quality players since Postecoglou’s arrival.
