Football injury analyst shares how long Ben Davies could be out for Tottenham due to hamstring injury

Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the midst of an injury crisis at centre-back in wake of Thursday’s Premier League defeat at Bournemouth.

Tottenham have already been without both Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, prompting them to go with Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin at centre-back.

However, Davies was forced off in the second half at the Vitality Stadium, prompting Archie Gray to fill in at centre-back, much to the fans’ discontent.

Davies appears to have suffered a hamstring injury, as he was seen clutching the back of his left leg in the game against the Cherries.

Now, football injury analyst Physio Scout has taken to X to discuss Davies’ hamstring issue and how long it could see him on the sidelines.

Tottenham defender Ben Davies could be out for two to six weeks

Physio Scout noted that Ange Postecoglou said Davies will be “out for a while”, suggesting he’s suffered a strain as opposed to hamstring tightness.

And though Davies is set to undergo scans, Physio Scout said his issue “looked more of a minor or moderate strain”.

A Grade 1 strain is estimated to require two to four weeks to recover, while a Grade 2 strain could take between four and six weeks.

How many games Ben Davies could miss for Tottenham

In the worst-case scenario based on Physio Scout’s estimate, Davies would be out for six weeks, which could see him miss 10 games for Tottenham.

For discussion’s sake, if exactly six weeks are calculated from when he suffered the hamstring issue, this would see him return on 16 January.

In that time, Spurs face Chelsea, Rangers, Southampton, Manchester United, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Newcastle, Tamworth and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the best-case scenario – two weeks – could see him return by 19 December, the day of Spurs’ Premier League meeting with Man United.

What Postecoglou said about Ben Davies and Cristian Romero injuries

Postecoglou, speaking to football.london on Friday, admitted he didn’t have much information on Davies as he will need to undergo a scan.

Meanwhile, Romero – who has been out with a toe injury – is set to return to training, though he couldn’t confirm whether he’d be okay to return against Chelsea on Sunday.

“Ben, too early again mate, he’ll go for a scan today,” he said. “We’re talking 10 hours after last night’s game, so we’ll find out more.

“Cuti is due to train, we’re not doing much today but we’ll see how he goes tomorrow.”
