Spurs confirmed in October 2023 that Johan Lange will be responsible for the recruitment, analytics and talent identification for both the senior team as well as the academy.
Tottenham have gone through quite a rebuild since last season ended, with new summer signings making an impact and manager Ange Postecoglou impressing since joining the club.
Now, they have added more talent to their staff and Johan Lange comes with a lot of praise and a lot of promise.

Who is Johan Lange?
Johan Lange comes from Denmark and it was in his home country where the director begun his footballing career. Lange started as an assistant manager at FC Copenhagen in 2008 and stayed at the club until 2012. He started to impress and this saw him make the move to Wolves in 2012 where he again was an assistant manager. This time, he stayed in the role until 2013. Lange then ended up as manager of Lyngby BK in 2013.
Following his short stint at Lyngby, the roles Lange was involved in started to evolve and just six months after leaving his only role as a head manager, the Dane became the director of development at FC Copenhagen in 2014. He was only in this role for a few months and in the same year he became the technical director at the same club.
In his tenure in this role at Copenhagen, Lange found what he was best at in the footballing world and started to gain a strong reputation. After three years in his home country, he became the sporting director at Aston Villa. He stayed in this role from 2020 until 2023 and then became the global sports director. Despite only being in this role for a matter of months, Lange will now be the technical director at Spurs.
What has Johan Lange achieved as a Technical Director?
Johan Lange has become a successful technical director wanted by a huge club like Tottenham for his successes in being able to sign players for a very cheap price and then selling them on for profit over the years, especially at Copenhagen.
It was also at the Danish club where Lange managed to help the successes of the club on the pitch as the players he scouted started to massively improve their domestic and European campaigns year on year. Copenhagen made it to the Champions League group stages twice whilst he was working at the club.

Johan Lange is 43 years-old and he was born on the 22nd of November 1979. He was 29 when he joined the coaching world of football and he joined Aston Villa when he was 41. Lange never played football professionally in his career, he went straight into the world of coaching.
