Dominic Solanke reveals the other position he used to play

Solanke has revealed that he used to play in the number 10 position and that’s why he is so comfortable dropping deep and linking the play.

In his England press conference, the striker was compared by Tottenham journalist Dan Kilpatrick to Spurs legend Harry Kane for his ability to be more than just a number nine.

Kilpatrick asked him: “You were involved in both Spurs goals on Sunday by kind of dropping into the number 10 space, which is something Harry Kane does very well.

“Can you just talk about that side of your game and do you think you’re ability to do that makes you quite a good potential like-for-like replacement for Harry?”

Solanke responded by saying: “There’s been a lot of times in my career where I have actually played in that number 10 role so I’m quite familiar with it. I like to get on the ball and link up play, it’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing. I’m a striker mainly but I like to help the team and get on the ball.”

Solanke gives his honest verdict on Ange Postecoglou

Solanke has admitted that he loves playing Postecoglou’s attacking style of play and believes that it perfectly suits his style of play.

Solanke said: “He’s a great manager, one of the reasons why I was so keen to join Tottenham. The way he plays definitely suits my style, so it’s like-for-like.

“The way he plays is very aggressive, on the front foot, pressing very high which I enjoy doing. So like he’s said, it’s a great fit.”
