Tottenham continue to be represented on the international stage as Euro 2024 starts to heat up in Germany.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the latest star from Hotspur Way to feature in the tournament, representing his nation Denmark.

The midfielder was something of a fringe player during the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, starting just eight times in the league.

Ange Postecoglou has opted for different options instead as he looks to implement a style of play much different to those that preceded him.

The Tottenham boss may well have handed few minutes to Hojbjerg, however, the 28-year-old is still relied upon for Denmark at Euro 2024 – where he started their opening match of the campaign.

How Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg performed for Denmark v Slovenia

Hojbjerg was given the nod to start in midfield for Denmark as they kicked off their Group C campaign of Euro 2024 against Slovenia.

The Danish side struck first as former Spurs star Christian Eriksen found the back of the net with a strike just inside the box.

Slovenia made the game tough though and as Denmark failed to capitalise on their possession, the opposition hit back.

Erik Janza scored inside the final 15 minutes of the game, drawing the game level and making sure that the points would be shared.

For Hojbjerg and his fellow countrymen, it came as a disappointing blow to the start of their campaign, though there are still two games remaining.

The midfielder may be equally disappointed with his own performance as Danish media outlet SportTV2 gave him a rating of just four out of ten.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer future

Following the conclusion of Euro 2024, there will have to be a decision over the future of Hojbjerg at Tottenham.

The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he will likely be in search of regular minutes.

Any move could help Spurs raise some funds for their potential incomings over the summer, strengthening the options available to Postecoglou.

Hojbjerg has been linked with a transfer to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce as well as Atletico Madrid in recent weeks – though it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.
