Ange Postecoglou will forever be remembered as the man who added a trophy to the cabinet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time in many years.

Last season’s Europa League final win over Manchester United etched Postecoglou into Tottenham folklore – although his celebrations didn’t last long.

How are we not getting these decisions? 😡

Daniel Levy sacked Postecoglou a few days after the final, with the 17th-place finish deemed unacceptable for a club the size of Spurs.

Now, after Levy collected a CBE, he’s shared how he feels about Postecoglou despite sacking him.

Daniel Levy indebted to Ange Postecoglou

Levy has delivered some kind words to Postecoglou after collecting his CBE.

He’s explained that he will be forever grateful towards Postecoglou for his efforts at Tottenham, despite how things ended for the Australian.

He said in an interview: “I’ve been honoured to work with lots of great managers.

“Ange, I will be forever grateful to him; he’ll be in the history of Tottenham for allowing us to win that European trophy. It was an amazing night.”

It was probably right for Levy to sack Postecoglou despite winning the Europa League.

However, it’s now conclusive that perhaps the Premier League form wasn’t solely down to Postecoglou, with the struggles continuing this season.

Thomas Frank couldn’t revive the team’s fortunes, while the appointment of Igor Tudor proved nothing more than shambolic.

Roberto De Zerbi’s games in charge have seen a mini revival, but with two games remaining, the club still have relegation issues to iron out.

Postecoglou had imperfections, but it’s a very classy touch for Levy to praise him on the back of receiving his CBE, and he will always be remembered as a manager who added silverware to Tottenham’s cabinet.
