Tottenham had to settle for a point against Leeds United as they failed to pile the pressure on West Ham United.
It’s now a two-horse race to secure another season in the Premier League, with the London rivals battling it out against each other.
A point for Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham against Leeds. What did the boss get wrong?
Mathys Tel got Spurs off to a flyer in the second half, scoring a scrumptious effort from distance, but he later gave away a penalty, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin dispatching from the spot.
The fourth official indicated 13 minutes of added time and with eight of them played, Tottenham were indebted to goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who earned praise from Jamie Carragher.
Jamie Carragher praises Antonin Kinsky’s presence
Kinsky made a brilliant save in the first half to thwart former Tottenham defender Joe Rodon, but his save in stoppage time was just outstanding.
It was quite remarkable how he managed to get anything on Sean Longstaff’s drilled effort from close range, and in handling it onto the bar, he managed to get it away from danger.
WHAT A SAVE FROM ANTONIN KINSKY!
Could this be a sliding doors moment for Tottenham Hotspur? Sum up this save in one word!
Carragher hinted that he thought Kinsky was actually better than Guglielmo Vicario, saying: “It’s an unbelievable save. Wow. Honestly, the two saves that lad made, one in the first half, one right at the end, he’s earned them a vital point.
“People have heard me before say I’m not the biggest fan of Vicario as a goalkeeper and to be honest, he’s got a presence about him, I like that.”
Kinsky has enjoyed a brilliant redemption arc since Igor Tudor hung him out to dry by subbing him after 17 minutes against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The Czech goalkeeper has clearly embraced his latest chance in the team with Vicario requiring hernia surgery, and now, Roberto De Zerbi must keep him between the posts for the remainder of the season.
