Brad Friedel has revealed how Harry Kane nearly missed out on even making his debut for Tottenham.
Kane will go down in history as one of Spurs’ best players and, given the way he’s playing at Bayern Munich, could even win the Ballon d’Or.
The England international achieved immense success during his time at North London, becoming the best striker in the Premier League.

Tottenham nearly sold Harry Kane after Andre Villas-Boas left
Friedel revealed that Kane was nearly sold by Tottenham when Andre Villas-Boas was sacked.
The Portuguese was shown the door after an unsuccessful stint at White Hart Lane, and there was chaos behind the scenes.
Ahead of Tim Sherwood’s arrival, the English striker nearly left Spurs, but it was the then-manager who managed to keep him at the club.

Sherwood helped Kane get to the first team and saw the efforts he was putting in to be at that level.
He was also the one who gave the forward his senior debut, and it would not have happened had he not intervened and made a case to keep him at the club.
Friedel said: “When AVB left and Tim got the job, there was like serious discussion at Tottenham about selling Harry Kane and getting him out.
“And it was Tim Sherwood who made sure that he was that he was there, now that was Tim Sherwood’s experience also as a player and now a coach helping, and then when Harry came into the first team like there were a lot of us there to to help him and then when he got his when he got his start and he scored his first goal and the rest is as we say history.”

Where does Kane rank in the list of Spurs legends?
Kane already holds the record for most goals in Spurs history, scoring 280 times, surpassing Jimmy Greaves’ 266.
He is also the second-highest scorer in Premier League history, trailing only Alan Shearer.
The Englishman almost certainly makes the club’s Greatest XI, leading the line with Greaves.
Glenn Hoddle and Steve Perryman also had a major impact on the club’s history, who could arguably be considered to be ahead of Kane in the pecking order.
Hoddle is viewed by many as the most gifted player to ever don a Tottenham kit, while Perryman has made the most appearances in their history, with 866 games, and also captained them to win multiple major trophies.
