Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ryan Sessegnon will not play again this season after his latest injury blow.

It has been yet another setback for the Englishman after picking up another hamstring issue which has required surgery.

Speaking on Friday, Ange Postecoglou has revealed the 23-year-old’s setback will keep him sidelined for months.

Ryan Sessegnon injury update

Tottenham return to Premier League action on Saturday when Crystal Palace travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was apparent Ryan Sessegnon was not going to play in any part of the game on Saturday having recently undergone surgery.

He picked up the injury having returned to the pitch with the U21s two weeks ago.

But it now seems his season is done with Postecoglou informing the press at Hotspur Way of the latest on the left-back: “Ryan [Sessegnon] had a bit of a setback after the last game, well a big one.”

“Sess is a tough one, it’s through no fault of his own, worked hard to come back. It’s always challenging when happens as series of events and he hasn’t had any reward for all his hard work of rehab in terms of getting out there to play. He will get the support he needs, he’s had surgery, he’s a positive guy and he’s been through this before so hopefully that helps,” he added.

Ryan Sessegnon’s Tottenham future

There is no doubt the £25m move to north London has not worked out the way anyone involved would have hoped.

The Englishman has suffered injury setback after injury setback.

He now goes into the summer with just 12 months remaining on his deal having played just seven minutes of football for Tottenham this season.

Perhaps even more frustrating is the prospect of a fit and in-form Sessegnon playing in this Postecoglou system.

He feels like a player who could provide perfect competition for Destiny Udogie at left-back.

But it has just not worked out that way and his future at the club has to be questioned ahead of the summer due to his unreliability.
