Atletico Madrid fans are unhappy with how Diego Simeone has been lining up the team in training ahead of Tottenham, starting Robin Le Normand over Jose Gimenez.
Simeone and Atletico arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to defend their 5-2 lead from the first leg at the Metropolitano.
🔮 Can Tottenham comeback from 5-2 down against Atletico Madrid?
Meanwhile, Igor Tudor’s Spurs will be looking to build on the 1-1 draw with Liverpool over the weekend, with another positive result.
Ahead of their team’s trip to London on Wednesday, Atleti fans have been reacting to the team news coming out of the Spanish press from the latest training session.
Atletico Madrid fans question Diego Simeone’s team selection in training for Tottenham clash
Atletico Madrid are very unhappy that Diego Simeone is choosing to stick with Robin Le Normand in defence for the game against Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Jose Gimenez looks set to be dropped back to the bench, despite impressing in the latest 1-0 win over Getafe on the weekend.
Le Normand actually scored in the first leg against Tottenham, and the Argentine manager now looks set to stick by him, much to the frustration of the supporters.
Atleti will be without Jan Oblak, who has suffered a hip injury, and their second-choice goalkeeper, Juan Musso, is expected to replace him.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Madrid’s team will be: Musso, Pubill, Le Normand, Hancko, Ruggeri, Giuliano, Llorente, Cardoso, Lookman, Alvarez, and Griezmann.
After learning the team, fans took to social media to question the coach’s call and perhaps offer Spurs a glimmer of hope over a comeback.
One fan said: “Stop playing Le Normand for the love of our team, man. They have no wingers but three strong strikers. I’d rather play Molina than him. Give Gimenez time over RLN, please.”

“Saw Gimenez drop another masterclass and said ‘Yeah, Le Normand starts again’,” added another supporter.
A third fan stated: “I have zero confidence in Robin, and I don’t trust Ruggeri either. This team needs to sign a centre-back and a full-back.”
One fan even wants to see former Spurs player Clement Lenglet start over Le Normand: “I would rather start Lenglet instead of Robin Le Normand.”
There was yet more criticism for Simeone: “I can completely understand that Llorente has been a huge saviour for us as a midfield replacement, but I can’t stand Le Normand starting.”
Finally, another fan stated: “Every time you have some hope that Simeone understands this squad and the mistakes he should avoid, he pulls something like this out.
“Backing Le Normand over club legend Gimenez is just weird, not to mention the fact that he’s nowhere near as good as him in defence.”
Tottenham to get Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie back
Tottenham are set to get Micky van de Ven back and likely Destiny Udogie, who has returned to training ahead of Atletico.
Van de Ven is back from suspension in the Premier League; meanwhile, Udogie has recovered from his latest injury setback.
However, Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha remain sidelined due to concussion protocols, meaning Kevin Danso is set to start again.
