‘Arrogance’… TalkSPORT pundit slams Ange Postecoglou for what he did in Tottenham vs Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been labeled as arrogant by pundit Alex Crook following the defeat on the weekend.

There is no doubt the loss on Saturday to Wolves was hugely disappointing and could even have huge implications on our hopes of Champions League football.

Joao Gomes proved too hot to handle for the hosts, but it was Ange Postecoglou’s inability to keep Pedro Neto quiet.

Postecoglou’s high line slammed

One thing which was promised under the 58-year-old was front-foot football and that has certainly been provided.

However, with that comes some side effects and one of them definitely seems to be the exposure in defence during turnovers.

Neto was able to expose this in the second half as he ran from one end of the pitch to the other before setting up Gomes to regain their lead.

And speaking on the TalkSPORT Premier League All Access podcast, Crook has slammed the Australian’s tactics for our downfall at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: “I just think it’s naivety and maybe a bit of arrogance on Ange Postecoglou’s part. That if you know you’re up against someone with the capability Pedro Neto has to turn defence into attack and run in behind and exploit those spaces, not just tell your defence to sit back a little bit,” he said.

Pedro Neto on Tottenham’s radar

Reports have recently suggested Spurs may be one of the clubs who could make a summer swoop for the Portuguese winger.

However, he is someone who has openly admitted he grew up as an Arsenal fan.

But if Postecoglou needed any further convincing that Neto could provide Spurs an upgrade, it was on display for all to see in north London on Saturday.

It would have been interesting to see the 23-year-old up against Destiny Udogie, however, he proved a real tricky customer for the Spurs defence to handle.

It will take a significant amount of cash for Wolves to part ways with him in the summer, but Gary O’Neil has already stated he does not want to see Neto leave anytime soon.

But after what we saw on the weekend, perhaps he is a player who Postecoglou will be keen to manage ahead of next season.
