Ange Postecoglou’s stance revealed over changing to three-at-back system at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is still not convinced about the possibility of playing three at the back.

Questions linger over the Lilywhites’ defensive numbers this season with just one clean sheet having now been kept in their last 16 games.

But it seems as if Ange Postecoglou is not looking to make any major changes yet despite having Radu Dragusin at his disposal.

Postecoglou not considering back three

According to club expert Paul O Keefe, the 58-year-old does not trust the idea of changing formation and playing with three central defenders.

The January signing of the Romanian centre-back is yet to show any real impact just yet with the 22-year-old still yet to start under Postecoglou.

This comes as a result of the partnership Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven formed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

And it seems as if Dragusin will have to wait for his turn in N17 with a defensive back four expected to remain the go-to formation for the Australian.

Dragusin waits for first start

The wait will go on for Dragusin to get his opportunity in the starting XI with the north London club.

However, it is apparent those around the player have not been left concerned by his lack of game time with his mother even weighing in on his situation.

It seems the only thing which could potentially break up the current centre-back partnership could be injury with no more cup games to be played this term.

Next season could be huge for the Romanian once he has had a full pre-season under Postecoglou and European football could well be on the menu.

Greater rotation next season may be needed as the club will be hoping they will have to juggle midweek games in Europe as well as deeper cup runs than what was seen this season.

What will be even more interesting to see is whether any further centre-backs are brought in over the summer to add further depth following the exit of Eric Dier in January.
