Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings have struggled to make much of an impact this season with only Dominic Solanke managing to secure regular minutes.
Solanke is proving his worth even at £65 million, however, Wilson Odobert has spent most of his time in North London with a hamstring injury, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have so far failed to nail down minutes and Timo Werner has been a major disappointment.
Ange Postecoglou will probably look back at the 2024 summer transfer window as being rather a disappointment with the club having signed just one starter.
One of the new arrivals of the summer has been discussing his lack of minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what has been a tricky start to life for him in N17.

Lucas Bergvall enjoying life at Tottenham despite limited minutes
Lucas Bergvall has admitted that he is still enjoying being at Tottenham despite his struggles to break into the team. The young Swede is yet to complete 90 minutes in a Spurs shirt under Postecoglou and is having to be patient in his wait for consistent minutes.
Bergvall told Fotbollskanalen: “There have been many matches recently and a lot of rotation in the team. I’m still enjoying it. I’m starting to get used to playing here. It is clear that things go up and down. You have to learn from what was not so good and then continue with what was good.”
The 18-year-old has had some tricky moments in North London so far from his early withdrawal against Qarabag to his frustrating performance in the hostile atmosphere against Galatasaray.
The Spurs News has already reported that Tottenham are unwilling to send Bergvall out on loan in January and are happy with his progress at the club.
Does Lucas Bergvall deserve more minutes at Tottenham?
For sure, Bergvall is not ready for Premier League action and really, a loan move could be quite beneficial for the teenager. But that’s obviously not possible right now given Spurs’ squad size.
Whilst he has shown flashes of brilliance in the Europa League, he’s also struggled at times to really impose himself in matches. Postecoglou often ends up bringing him off early with his minutes per game at just 54.0.
| Stat | Total |
| Appearances | 4 |
| Minutes per game | 54.0 |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Touches | 32.0 |
| Big chances created | 2 |
| Key passes | 0.8 |
| Accurate per game | 18.3 (85%) |
| Tackles per game | 1.0 |
| Balls recovered per game | 3.3 |
| Dribbled past per game | 1.0 |
Bergvall still has a fair bit to prove before warranting more game time with his next opportunity likely to come against AS Roma in the Europa League on November 28.
