Tottenham Hotspur will look to make it four Europa League wins in a row when they play away at Galatasaray on Thursday evening.

Spurs have been impressive in European competition this season, hammering Qarabag FK in their first game before seeing off Ferencvaros and AZ.

However, Tottenham now face the biggest test of their Europa League campaign so far as they lock horns with the Turkish champions at the fiery Ali Sami Yen Stadium.

The Lilywhites are set for a reunion with Davinson Sanchez, who swapped Spurs for Galatasaray in the summer of 2023.

Ange Postecoglou held his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, and he was asked about the prospect of coming up against Sanchez.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou says Davinson Sanchez is a ‘very good professional’

Alasdair Gold asked Postecoglou what he thought about Gala’s set-piece prowess and facing off against Sanchez.

“Yeah, they’ve scored a lot of goals from set pieces,” he told football.london. “They’re a threat. I think they’re an attacking threat with the players they have, especially in the front third.

“So again we’re going to have to work hard defensively tomorrow at different times. I think you always do when you play away in Europe. We’ll be ready for that.

“Yeah, Davinson Sanchez, it’ll be good to see him again. He was at the club when I first arrived. Very good professional, always trying very hard. Good guy and looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.”

How Davinson Sanchez fared at Tottenham and how he’s doing at Galatasaray

Sanchez became Tottenham’s club-record signing in August 2017, costing them around £42million.

The Colombia international initially showed promise when he first arrived and did well playing alongside Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

However, when Sanchez became one of the club’s first-choice centre-backs, he struggled to hold his own and his performance levels took a dip.

In the summer of 2023, Postecoglou sold him to Galatasaray for a fee of around £12.8 million. He had made 207 appearances for Tottenham by the time he left.

Sanchez has been doing well in Turkey, winning the league and also the Turkish super cup last season.

This season, he has 10 club outings to his name, registering two goals in seven league appearances and one assist in the Europa League.
