Mikey Moore had a very special moment in his young career as he made his first Premier League start for Tottenham Hotspur against Crystal Palace.
Aged just 17, Moore was named ahead of Richarlison and Timo Werner in the line up to start left-wing for the North London club at Selhurst Park. Unfortunately, the result was far from a memorable one for Tottenham and the teenager, but given just how young he is, it was still a very special achievement.
The Spurs academy star certainly earned his spot in the team following an impressive showing in the Europa League against AZ Alkmaar. Ange Postecoglou’s side looked very sluggish in South London and it was difficult to offer a proper assessment of the youngster’s display with the senior players around him failing to show up.
But despite a frustrating afternoon, Postecoglou offered his assessment of how Moore got on and what is next for the wonderkid.

Ange Postecoglou on what’s next for Mikey Moore at Tottenham
Postecoglou has revealed that he will continue to keep handing Moore first-team opportunities and claims he will have learned a lot from Sunday’s defeat.
The 59-year-old admitted it was a tough afternoon for the teenager, but he was not helped by the fact his teammates failed to show up.
Speaking after the defeat to Palace, Postecoglou told the media: “Like I said it, wasn’t really a great game for anybody out there from our perspective.
“Mikey every time he’s out there he’ll be a better player and the more we can get him out there in the right sort of environment then he’ll keep thriving. I’m sure he’ll learn a lot today.”
It’s worth remembering just how young and inexperienced Moore is before knocking him and it’s his senior teammates who need to be taking on the responsibility.
The 17-year-old was superb against AZ and played with so much confidence, that game in the Europa League is a fairer reflection of him.
Will Mikey Moore start against Manchester City?
Moore is expected to drop out of the side and Heung-min Son could be the player to replace him as returns from injury against Manchester City.
Son missed the defeat to Palace as a precaution but he could be passed fit to face City in the Carabao Cup clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A strong line up is expected from Postecoglou with Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke all set to keep their places.
Tottenham’s predicted line up vs Manchester City: Vicario; Spence, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Porro; Bentancur, Sarr, Kulusevski; Son, Johnson, Solanke.
