Ange Postecoglou makes Harry Kane claim
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has discussed the importance of his squad in replacing Harry Kane this season. The striker, who is also Spurs’ top goal scorer, left last summer and brought about a huge absence to deal with.
So far though, the Lilywhites have managed fine, with a push for top four still firmly in their hands this campaign. Speaking to Spurs Play, Postecoglou said on the absence of Kane: “It’s essential [every squad player chips in with goals] because we were never going to replace Harry [Kane] with somebody who’s going to score that volume of goals, those kinds of players just don’t exist.
“So, for us, it was then about the collective and how we can bridge that gap. Sonny’s [Heung-Min Son] done a great job of leading the line up there. Even today, he didn’t get a goal and he was unlucky but he worked awful hard for the team.
“The wingers I thought contributed. For us, it’s about a little bit of everything from everyone. We think there are more goals in this team, particularly from midfield areas. It was great to see a couple of defenders get it today.”

Roy Keane on Timo Werner

Speaking on Werner’s ability, Keane said on Sky Sports: “He’s a nuisance to play against, Werner. There’s question marks about his end product and his final pass, but he does affect games, he is a threat.
“I think probably wide [is his best position]. I don’t think he enjoys having his back to players and his hold up play. But when he’s in those wide positions, he is effective.”

Top four will guarantee Champions League football next season, while fifth could open the route to the competition, but without guarantees of making it. Speaking after their latest clash, Watkins told the local media: “There is a lot of football to be played.
“We’re battling with Tottenham who have got a great squad. It’s going to be tight. We need to win the next six games.”
