Who are Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time record goalscorers?

Tottenham have seen some of the best players in the world wear the Lilywhite jersey, with plenty of talent on display. From the modern day record breakers in Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane to club icons such as Sir Jimmy Greaves, Spurs have a knack for finding clinical finishers.

Plenty of big names have secured their place in the history books of Tottenham, with the next generation looking up to those heroes as an aspiration to attain. So, with that said, here’s a look at the current all-time record goalscorers for Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur all-time leading goalscorers

10 – Alan Gilzean – 133 goals

Alan Gilzean featured for Tottenham for ten years, between 1964 and 1974, following his transfer from Dundee. The striker scored 133 goals for the club across all competitions, which gave him an honours list which includes an FA Cup, two League Cups and a UEFA Cup.

9 – Leonard Duquemin – 134 goals

Leonard Duquemin, also known as Len, was a striker that featured for Tottenham between 1946 and 1957. The Guernsey-born forward scored 134 goals in all competitions for Spurs, winning the first division and second division in his 11 years at the club.

8 – George Hunt – 138 goals

Forward George Hunt spent seven years at Tottenham, from 1930 until 1937, where he was a prolific finisher. 138 goals across his time at the club has seen him cement a place in the all-time leading goal scorers list.

7 – Jermain Defoe – 143 goals

Jermain Defoe has a long-standing association with Tottenham, following his big break at the club in 2004. The striker enjoyed two successful spells with Spurs, scoring 143 goals across all competitions for the Lilywhites.

Defoe was part of the squad that won the League Cup in 2007/08, which was the last trophy Tottenham won.

6 – Cliff Jones – 159 goals

Welsh winger Cliff Jones spent ten years at Tottenham, which saw plenty of goals fly into the back of the net. Between 1958 and 1968, Jones scored 159 goals for Spurs, winning the first division, three FA Cups and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

5 – Heung-Min Son – 162 goals

Heung-Min Son continues to rise through the Tottenham ranks when it comes to goal scoring, having bagged 162 goals and counting. The striker joined from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and doesn’t appear to be slowing up on scoring any time soon.

4 – Martin Chivers – 174 goals

Martin Chivers was another forward from an inspired generation of Tottenham scorers, bagging 174 in the colours of Spurs. From 1968 to 1976, he helped the side secure two League Cups, a UEFA Cup and an Anglo-Italian League Cup.

3 – Bobby Smith – 208 goals

Bobby Smith ranks in the top three for Tottenham all-time record goalscorers, landing goals for the club from 1955 until 1964. In that time, Spurs won a first division title, two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.

2 – Sir Jimmy Greaves – 268 goals

The late, great Sir Jimmy Greaves once held the all-time leading goalscorer record for Tottenham with 268 goals from 1961 to 1970. The striker has become a symbol of icons to play for Spurs, winning two FA Cups and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.

1 – Harry Kane – 280 goals

A modern day icon of Tottenham, Harry Kane currently holds the goal scoring record for the club with 280. The striker came through the academy ranks and was handed his debut in 2009, eventually becoming a regular for the team.

Kane left in 2023 for Bayern Munich, though it remains to be seen if a return to Spurs is on the cards, potentially adding more goals to his tally.
