Destiny Udogie was forced off with an injury against Manchester United and withdrawn at half-time in Tottenham’s win at Old Trafford.
Spurs ran riot in Manchester on Sunday afternoon as Ange Postecoglou’s team cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Red Devils.
Micky van de Ven helped open the scoring with an outrageous assist as he intercepted a pass on the halfway line and drove through United’s team to flash a ball across the box for Brennan Johnson to tap home.
Dejan Kulusevski finally doubled Spurs’ lead just after the restart with a cute finish past Andre Onana before Dominic Solanke sealed the win with a third.
Tottenham fans will now be sweating over the fitness of Udogie and after the game, Ange Postecoglou provided an injury update on the Italian.

Why Udogie came off vs Manchester United
Postecoglou has revealed that Udogie is ok, he felt an issue in his quad and Tottenham decided not to take any chances on him.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Postecoglou said: “Yeah, he was ok. I mean he felt something in his quad but he obviously finished the half, but we just thought at half-time no point, we’ve got to be careful about how much we push our players.
“Obviously, Destiny had to come on pretty early on Thursday night, which wasn’t the plan and I would say Micky played probably more than we wanted him to.
“So with those kind of things, we just got to be really careful, and Djed did really well when he came on so I thought it was just wise to take him off but we’ll see how it goes.”
Tottenham now have the perfect Udogie back-up
Tottenham would have been gutted to see Udogie go off at half-time as the young defender was having a great game. However, his replacement Djed Spence did a superb job covering him, even more so in an unnatural position.
The 24-year-old was excellent both going forward and in defence and showed to Postecoglou he can firmly trust him when called upon.
His display against United just further shows why Tottenham’s decision not to include him in the Europa League squad was just crazy.
