Tottenham Hotspur lose to Ipswich Town in the Premier League, in one of the upsets of the season so far.

Ipswich Town came out all guns blazing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Kieran Mckenna’s side finding themselves two goals to the good at half-time.

After a Dominic Solanke disallowed goal, Spurs then managed to find the net through Rodrigo Bentancur, who instilled some hope with a fantastic header.

Alas, a second goal didn’t come, and Tottenham suffered an embarrassing defeat on home soil. The Tottenham manager and captain reflected on what was a poor performance.

Ange Postecoglou on Spurs loss to Ipswich

Ange Postecoglou reflected on the loss after the game, and knows that his sides performance simply wasn’t good enough on the day.

The Australian told BBC Sport: “Hugely disappointing. We started slow and passively. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb. Second half we had chances but didn’t do enough to win the game.

“It’s just down to me. I’m not getting consistent performances from the players. It’s something I need to address. I’m the person in charge so that’s usually the way it goes. I take responsibility.

“We can’t give ourselves those kind of mountains to climb.”

Heung-min Son reflects on poor Tottenham performance vs Ipswich

As well as the boss, club captain Heung-min Son also reflected on the ‘disappointing’ performance, and echoed Postecoglou’s thoughts on the matter.

Son said post-match to BBC Sport: “It’s very disappointing. Before they scored we had a couple of chances. We conceded a very sloppy goal that shouldn’t happen. It’s more than disappointing.

“Sometimes you have to be calm and find a better solution if someone is in a better position. We have to be better in those kind of situations. It’s very painful.”

Son, and Tottenham, must now bounce back after a difficult week. No pressure, but up next is Manchester City.
