Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier was recently given a standing ovation by the Bayern Munich fans.

The centre-back joined Harry Kane in the Bundesliga on loan in the January transfer window.

Bayern have already confirmed Eric Dier’s permanent clause in his deal will be triggered ahead of the summer.

Eric Dier joins Bayern Munich permanently

Having only joined in January, the Bundesliga champions have already confirmed Dier’s stay ahead of next season.

The Englishman was not called up to Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad, but he is seriously impressing in Germany.

He has now become the only player in the German top flight to play 500+ minutes without being dribbled past.

And it seems he is being warmly welcomed by the Bayern fans who even provided him with a standing ovation recently.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold said Dier was substituted off to huge praise in Bayern’s 8-1 victory last weekend.

He said: “Eric Dier has had a very good week. Clean sheet obviously in the Champions League against Lazio last week in midweek. They won 3-0 and then he played 75 minutes as Bayern won 8-1 at home against Mainz. I think someone said he got a standing ovation from the Bayern fans as well. I think.”

A good move for all

It is great to see Dier finding his feet over in Germany having struggled for a number of years at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Under Ange Postecoglou, it became apparent very quickly that Dier was not going to be in the Australian’s plans.

The 30-year-old only made four appearances worth 198 minutes in the Premier League this season.

With his time at Spurs clearly hanging by a thread, it was good to see the partnership between player and club ended on good terms.

Spurs have got another player off the books ahead of the summer and Dier has earned a move to one of Europe’s finest.

Tottenham fans will now be hoping both Dier and Kane can show their best form in the upcoming Champions League games.

On Friday, Bayern drew Arsenal in the quarter finals.

It is potentially Bayern’s only hope of silverware this season with the Bundesliga title running away from them.

What a way to end Arsenal’s European dreams by seeing two former Spurs players help eliminate them.
