Tottenham players have been playing out of their skin so far this season, but there is one underrated machine who deserves a lot more recognition than he’s been getting.
Following the North London Derby – Spurs fans are still on top of the world. They put in a fine display at the Emirates, which earned them a hard-earned point to keep their undefeated start to life under Ange Posstecoglou alive.
There have been two stand-out performers this season. Son Heung-Min and James Maddison have been simply magical and have filled the void Harry Kane left after his departure to Bayern.
But one player’s stats speak for themselves, which has been tremendous in all six games thus far.

Yves Bissouma has been immense
A player who wasn’t even in the frame last season – Yves Bissouma has completely transformed this year at Tottenham.
There was always a player in there, as many knew from the Mali midfielder’s days at Brighton – but this season he’s finally shining at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Just look at some of his stats this season. He’s killing it.
- 91% passing accuracy
- 3.5 tackles per game
- 6.7 balls recovered per game
- 2.7 (80%) balls recovered per game
- 8.5 (61%) total duels won
Stats obtained from SofaScore.
Those are but a few of his standouts. But he’s one of them players who shouldn’t be necessarily defined by just stats.
He’s impeccable at doing the dirty work for Postecoglou’s side. He lets the other players play and that’s so integral to a harmonious side.
We’re so grateful the gaffer has realised Bissouma’s potential and brought him as a regular in the starting XI. He’s going to be a big player for the remainder of the campaign.
