Tottenham Hotspur produced a thumping 4-1 win over West Ham United as they emphatically responded to their defeat to Brighton before the international break.

Tottenham looked set for another long afternoon as the Hammers took an early lead, however, a strong turnaround in the second-half saw Ange Postecoglou claim his first major London derby win.

The floodgates opened after the restart as Yves Bissouma thundered home to give the Lilywhites the lead before Heung-min Son and an Alphonse Areola own goal put them out of sight.

Dejan Kulusevski was once again the star man for the North London side as he started Spurs’ revival against their bitter rivals with the equaliser and ran the show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham player ratings vs West Ham

Guglielmo Vicario – 7

Guglielmo Vicario had a solid afternoon against West Ham as he made several important stops throughout the game. The Italian was once again let down by his defence for West Ham’s goal and was unlucky not to have a clean sheet.

Pedro Porro – 5

Pedro Porro didn’t have his best afternoon in a Spurs shirt. Offensively he looked off it and for the visitors’ goal, he left Mohamed Kudus unmarked to power home the opener.

Micky van de Ven – 6

West Ham didn’t put a great deal of pressure on Tottenham’s back-line although when they did, Tottenham looked stretched. Micky van de Ven did ok but was part of another Tottenham calamity at the back for the goal.

Cristian Romero – 6

Neither Spurs centre-back had much pressure to deal with and like Van de Ven, Cristian Romero had a fairly quiet London derby. The 26-year-old will be frustrated not to come away with a clean sheet.

Destiny Udogie – 6

Destiny Udogie had a torrid game against Brighton but against West Ham, he looked much improved. The left-back made a vital block in the second half and set up Bissouma for the winning goal.

Yves Bissouma – 7

Bissouma returned to the starting line-up in the Premier League and marked it with a goal. The Malian dominated in the middle of the park and was helped by the introduction of Sarr at half-time.

James Maddison – 5

James Maddison was hauled off at half-time for Pape Matar Sarr as a tactical move from Postecoglou. The midfielder did set up Kulusevski’s goal, however, it was a poor afternoon for the man trying to impress the new England boss, Thomas Tuchel.

Dejan Kulusevski – 8

Kulusevski was superb once again for Tottenham as he played a starring role in the midfield. He netted a wonderful goal to equalise and was unlucky not to have come away with the assist as he set up Son for the own goal off Areola.

Brennan Johnson – 6

Brennan Johnson’s goal-scoring run ends at seven as he had a quieter display against the Hammers. The Welsh international did some good work but he was kept quiet by Emerson.

Heung-min Son – 8

Heung-min Son returned with a bang. After a lacklustre first-half, the South Korean came away from the win unlucky not to have scored a brace as his effort in the second 45 minutes was turned in off West Ham bodies. His actual goal was a great counter-attacking move from Spurs which Son rounded off with a great piece of skill to make some space and fire past Areola.

Dominic Solanke – 7

Dominic Solanke produced another centre-forward masterclass with his display just lacking a goal. The forward has been excellent since signing for the Lilywhites and his work against West Ham allowed others to capitalise.

Subs:

Pape Matar Sarr – 7

Timo Werner – 5

Richarlison – 6

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6
