Tottenham Hotspur have now scored in 37 consecutive Premier League games which has only been bettered by Arsenal.

It was an afternoon Spurs will want to forget as they produced far less than what Ange Postecoglou will have demanded.

However, they were still able to find the back of the net in the game and the impressive goalscoring record under the Australian.

Tottenham second in Premier League record

The result on the weekend was an unwanted one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this is at least one crumb of comfort to take out of it.

The win against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend saw us join Manchester United and Liverpool in second spot.

But Dejan Kulusevski’s second-half goal against Wolves moved us up into second spot which has only been bettered by our north London rivals.

There is still a long way to go, though, if we are to beat their record as they previously went 55 consecutive Premier League games.

Sloppy Spurs lose ground

Our grip on the top four took a blow on the weekend as the dropped points against Wolves was met with a win for Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s men have now leapfrogged back into the top four and we only have ourselves to blame.

The performance against Wolves was far from what we’ve come to expect from Postecoglou’s Spurs. We had the majority of the possession (71%), but failed to make much of it.

Despite Wolves having just 22 touches in our box, they were still able to find the back of the net twice.

And the opening goal will leave Postecoglou with a lot of questions to ask his team as Joao Gomes headed home from a corner completely unchallenged.

It was clear we missed Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro who were absent through their respective injuries, but this just wasn’t good enough on the whole.
