Tottenham loaned out defender Joe Rodon to Leeds United this summer and the media raved over his performance in the Championship on Wednesday night.

There was a lot of movement in and out of Tottenham this summer, and with the club signing centre-back Micky van de Ven, it pushed Joe Rodon down the pecking order.

This saw Rodon loaned out to Leeds for a season-long loan and he is starting to become a key player for the club managed by Daniel Farke.

Leeds beat QPR 1-0 in the Championship on Wednesday night and by the sound of the praise from the local media, Rodon had a good performance.

Media praise performance of Spurs loanee Joe Rodon in Leeds win

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou will be very happy to see Rodon putting in impressive performances whilst out on loan.

Leeds Live gave the defender a rating of seven out ten (the joint-highest rating). Speaking about Rodon, they said: “Immediate improvement in the defence. Assertive and proactive in coming to meet the loose supply line being sent towards Sinclair Armstrong.”

The praise they gave him is the exact praise you want to hear about a defender. He showed the top qualities needed for a centre-back to excel last night.

With the Spurs loanee 25 years-old, this temporary move to the Championship will feel like a pivotal moment for him. If he can shine consistently then he can definitely give himself a chance of getting back into the squad at Tottenham.

How much did Spurs pay for Rodon?

Rodon was signed by Tottenham three years ago in October 2020. He was signed from Championship club Swansea City, where he made 54 appearances. Spurs ended up paying £11million up front for Rodon, but the deal can rise to £15million.

It is hard to get into the first-team squad at Tottenham no doubt and with the club performing very well this season so far, it will be even harder. Rodon knows he has a big task on his hands to work his way back into the Premier League side but it looks like for now all his focus is on Leeds and possible promotion.
