Tottenham Hotspur stunned Manchester City as they dumped Pep Guardiola’s side out of the Carabao Cup to reach the quarter-finals.

Ange Postecoglou’s side emphatically responded to their shock defeat at Crystal Palace with an impressive showing against the Premier League champions.

Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr scored the goals that secured the win for the North London club to set up a quarter-final tie at home to Manchester United.

The only negative of the evening was an injury to Micky van de Ven which saw him go off with a nasty-looking hamstring injury.

Micky van de Ven suffers hamstring injury

Van de Ven went off in quite some discomfort clutching his hamstring and close to tears as he suffered another hamstring injury. Back in November 2023, the Dutch defender went off against Chelsea with a hamstring injury that sidelined him for nearly two months.

Van de Ven picked up the issue after making a tackle and was replaced with Destiny Udogie after just 14 minutes. The 23-year-old was moved into the left-back role against City and was playing well there up until he was forced to come off.

He will now join Wilson Odobert on the sidelines with the duo set for lengthy recoveries, much to the frustration of Postecoglou.

Tottenham fans spot what Micky van de Ven was doing in warm-up

Tottenham fans spotted that Van de Ven did not look comfortable when coming out for the warm-ups ahead of the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The former Wolfsburg man was seen feeling the back of his leg suggesting he was not feeling 100 percent ahead of the game.

Postecoglou should have taken no risks with Van de Ven and he now looks to have lost arguably his best defender for a long period.

The Australian manager has certainly not been helped by his lack of cover on the left-hand side of his defence with Van de Ven only playing there to hand Udogie a rest. Ben Davies seems to very much be a central defensive option now and playing left-back looks out of the question.
