Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that one of Tottenham Hotspur’s key players has just suffered a ‘serious’ injury setback.
The news comes as a huge blow to Spurs who face four games in the next 11 days as they take on Man City in the League Cup, Galatasaray in the Europa League and Aston Villa and Ipswich in the league.
Tottenham are also unlikely to be without their captain Heung-min Son who has been struggling with his recovery from an injury.
The South Korean returned to the Spurs team against West Ham and scored, however, he has had a few issues since the 4-1 win over the Hammers.
Now, Postecoglou will have to contend without two key players for the Carabao Cup match and he faces a big dilemma for the left-wing spot.
Wilson Odobert suffers serious injury setback
Postecoglou has confirmed that Wilson Odobert has suffered a ‘serious’ setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The winger returned to the Tottenham squad against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League and was also in the squad against Palace, but he has now returned to the sidelines and looks to remain there for a while.
Speaking ahead of Man City, Postecoglou told the media: “The only other one missing out which is a bit of a disappointment is Wilson, who has had a setback during the week and it seems like it is a serious one so we’re just waiting for more information.”
Heung-min Son injury update ahead of Man City
Postecoglou also revealed that Son is unlikely to feature against City and playing against Aston Villa is the aim for the 32-year-old.
“Son is almost fit but probably from our perspective we’ll aim for the weekend,” the Australian manager said in his pre-Man City game press conference.
Timo Werner looks the most likely to start in the left-wing spot against the Premier League champions and Mikey Moore dropping to the bench.
