Tottenham Hotspur fans have been singing Mauricio Pochettino’s name at Burnley following Thomas Frank’s team’s poor start at Turf Moor.
The North London club actually took the lead through Micky van de Ven just moments after the chants, but the football had been rather poor until the goal.
True or false: Tottenham re-appointing Mauricio Pochettino would be a bad idea…
An Axel Tuanzebe goal just before the break ensured that Burnley went into half-time on level terms with Spurs.
But the Lilywhites’ supporters were clearly not happy with their team’s performance again and made their feelings very clear about the manager.
Tottenham fans sing Mauricio Pochettino’s name to Thomas Frank
Tottenham Hotspur’s fans could be heard singing Mauricio Pochettino’s name to Thomas Frank during the first half at Turf Moor.
Chants of “He’s magic, you know… Mauricio Pochettino!” could be heard from the away end during the match, claims Chris Cowlin.
Despite beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League during midweek, Spurs’ supporters are still unhappy with the manager.
Meanwhile, Frank also remains under pressure from the Tottenham board to improve the team’s fortunes, after losing at home to West Ham United last week.
Change our mind: Tottenham must pay whatever it takes to SACK Thomas Frank…
Pochettino is a contender for the Tottenham job, but given his commitments to the United States national team, that move will only happen after the World Cup.
Back in February, Tottenham fans also chanted Pochettino’s name when Ange Postecoglou was also under pressure at the club.
It’s clear that Spurs faithful would love to see the Argentine return to North London in the near future, following his six years away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham’s board want to bring Mauricio Pochettino back
Tottenham’s board believe that bringing Pochettino back would be a popular appointment, according to Miguel Delaney.
There remains a split amongst the fanbase, with some who desperately want the Argentine to have another crack at the job and others who feel a return could end in tears.
Speaking about the situation, Delaney told Libero 090: “The current board, from what we’ve both been told, if Frank were eventually to go, there would be an interest in bringing Pochettino back obviously because it’s such an easy popularity move.”
