Tottenham are back in action as they take on Scottish side Hearts in their first public pre-season friendly of the summer.

Spurs are kicking off their preparation work for the 2024/25 Premier League season, with Ange Postecoglou building the fitness of his squad in the coming weeks.

The Lilywhites have lofty aims under the current manager, with hopes of ending their long wait for a trophy.

That all begins with work put in over the summer, with pre-season offering the chance for players to shine as they aim for match sharpness.

The first of those games for Tottenham come in a friendly against Hearts, with plenty of things to keep an eye out for during the match.

Tottenham debuts

Fresh faces will wear the Lilywhite jersey on Wednesday evening as both Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray are set to feature for Spurs.

Starting with Bergvall, the Swedish midfielder joined the club this summer from Djurgaden for a fee in the region of £8.5million.

The 18-year-old has plenty of promise, with fans set to receive a first glimpse of his quality in the friendly.

Then there’s Gray, another 18-year-old who is tipped for big things, with Tottenham shelling out roughly £40million to land him.

An impressive ball-carrier, the Leeds academy graduate could play in a midfield role or at right-back during the game.

Returning faces

While there are some new names in the squad, there are also some familiar players that are likely to feature for Tottenham at Tynecastle Stadium.

The likes of Djed Spence and Sergio Reguilon, who both spent last season out on loan, look set for a place in the team at some point during the evening.

It remains to be seen whether the pair will be able to push for a place in Postecoglou’s plans, but a strong pre-season could help their cause.

Academy stars

Beyond the first-team names and the new signings, there are also some representatives of the Tottenham academy set for an appearance.

Will Lankshear is one of those stars who has been seen with the squad making their way to Scotland for the match.

Given that the under-21s won the Premier League 2 last season, there is plenty of promise in that team which the manager can tap into.
