Ange Postecoglou took a major gamble against Chelsea and it backfired big time for Tottenham Hotspur in their London derby defeat.
Spurs allowed another two-goal lead to slip, this time at home to their bitter rivals Chelsea who won 4-3 in North London. Postecoglou’s job is now under serious threat as his team imploded on yet another occasion this season.
The North London club now end the weekend all the way down in 11th place and there could be big implications after that result. But not only did Spurs lose the match, they also lost several more players to injuries thanks to the big risk Postecoglou took.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero forced off injured
Tottenham stunned supporters as they unexpectedly named Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the starting lineup. There had been some suggestions Romero could be ready but Van de Ven was a real shock.
However, rushing them both back proved costly as the defensive duo were both forced off injured against the Blues. The Argentine came off after just 15 minutes after feeling pain, meanwhile, Van de Ven pulled up with another hamstring issue in minute 79.
Postecoglou knew he needed at least one of them back with Ben Davies suffering a hamstring issue against Bournemouth. The 59-year-old opted to rush both back and now faces a nervous wait as to how long he will be without them again.
With Rangers, Southampton, Manchester United and Liverpool on the horizon losing them both now could be more than costly for the manager. That’s if Daniel Levy hasn’t taken a massive decision in that time.
Tottenham also lose Johnson and Bissouma vs Chelsea
Van de Ven and Romero weren’t the only two players Postecoglou looks to have now lost in the Chelsea game. Brennan Johnson came off injured and the club will have to wait for an update on him.
Yves Bissouma was booked for his reckless tackle on Moises Caicedo inside the penalty area. The midfielder has now been booked five times this season and is suspended for the Southampton game.
