Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke made his debut for his new club in their Premier League opener at Leicester City.
On 10 August, Spurs signed the England international from fellow Premier League club Bournemouth for a club-record £65million.
Solanke was then named in Tottenham’s starting XI for Monday night’s trip to the newly-promoted Foxes.
The 26-year-old gave a solid account of himself, impressing with his movement, hold-up play, and pressing.
Solanke had a number of opportunities to open his account for Tottenham, but his efforts were too close to Mads Hermansen.
Despite failing to get on the scoresheet, the former Cherries man did well and his performance suggests there’s much more to come.
Here is what a number of media outlets said about Solanke in their post-match ratings pieces.

Mostly sixes for Tottenham debutant Dominic Solanke along with a four out of ten

“But will be frustrated he did not score after sending three efforts too close to goalkeeper Hermansen.
Likewise, football.london went with 6 out of 10, and Alasdair Gold believes there’ll be more to come from the striker.
“Worked himself a couple of early opportunities with headers at the keeper,” he wrote. “Sent another shot at Hermansen from a Sarr pass.
“Got around the pitch with good movement as well as pressing. He’ll find his sharpness after his first game in about three weeks.”
90Min was another outlet that went with 6 out of 10, writing: “Looked sharp and willing to press on his Tottenham debut.
“Should have done better with some of his opportunities, hitting them a little too centrally.”
Meanwhile, The Express awarded Solanke a mere a 4 out of 10 for his efforts in the East Midlands.
“Will have to be less profligate in the future if he’s to make a name for himself at Spurs,” they wrote.
“Snatched the chances that came his way and ought to have found the back of the net at least once.
“Things can only get better for the £65million signing.”
