Wilson Odobert made his Tottenham Hotspur debut in the club’s emphatic 4-0 win over Everton and the winger made quite the impression.

Spurs put behind them the disappointment of being held to a 1-1 draw with Leicester City in their opening match to dispatch the Toffees comfortably.

Yves Bissouma produced a wicked attempt on his return from suspension to open the scoring before Heung-min Son took full advantage of a mix-up from Jordan Pickford to add a second.

Cristian Romero headed home a third in the second half before Son sealed the win, assisted by an extraordinary run from penalty box to penalty box by Micky van de Ven.

Despite not being involved in any of the four goals, Odobert caught the eye of many on his debut at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including his captain.

Heung-min Son “very impressed” by Wilson Odobert’s Tottenham debut

Son was left ‘very impressed’ by Odobert’s debut against Everton on Sunday but insists the youngster cannot get carried away after one game.

The winger looked electric in the first half as he constantly caused the away side trouble running at them down the left side of the pitch.

Speaking after the game against Everton, Sonny told SpursOfficial: “He was very, very impressive. He’s trained with the team maybe three, or four times, but you can see his quality.

“He understood how we want to play and I was very pleased to see him on the left side, one-on-one, making an impact.”

However, the 32-year-old insisted he would not allow his new teammate to get carried away: “It’s only his first game so let’s not celebrate too much because with the young players, we need to stay humble and take care of these players.

“We can’t let them celebrate after just one game because football is such a long season, I’m trying to help the young lads because one game is not everything. I hope he can keep producing those performances and keep the sharpness,” said Tottenham’s captain.

Wilson Odobert could be the answer to Ange Postecoglou’s missing Tottenham piece

Tottenham supporters will have walked away from the ground against Everton left very impressed by Odobert’s debut.

The 19-year-old’s positivity in the first half was exactly what Ange Postecoglou’s team have been missing – a winger willing to run at his man one-on-one and the ability to go both ways.

Tottenham had issues against Leicester with Son and Brennan Johnson both proving too predictable, but the Frenchman was a constant threat, tormenting Everton’s debutant, Roman Dixon.

Against the Merseyside club, he completed the most dribbles (seven) and had the most touches in the opposition box (seven) of any player on the pitch.
