Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven have both praised Cristian Romero after Tottenham Hotspur secured a comeback win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Spurs were left frustrated after the opening 70 minutes of the game as they failed to make a breakthrough against a resilient Palace side.

Timo Werner was put through on goal in the first half but failed to beat Sam Johnstone before Heung-min Son rattled the post in the second period.

Ange Postecoglou’s side really stepped things up after Eberechi Eze put Palace ahead against the run of play with a brilliant free-kick.

Werner grabbed his first goal for the club before Cristian Romero and Son secured a vital three points for Tottenham.

But it was Romero who impressed both Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven, with the former labelling the Argentine ‘the best’ centre-back in the world after yesterday’s 3-1 win.

While Romero’s disciplinary record has been called into question at times, he’s excelled since Postecoglou’s arrival.

He’s struck up a brilliant partnership with Van de Ven too and has become a real leader at Hotspur Way this season.

Romero has already waxed lyrical about Van de Ven, claiming the Dutchman may be the best defender in the Premier League right now.

The duo will be content with their performances yesterday too as they limited Palace to no real clear-cut chances on the day, despite a moment of brilliance from Eze.
