James Maddison has lauded Heung-min Son after the Tottenham Hotspur skipper produced an ‘absolutely brilliant’ assist against Brighton yesterday.
Heung-min Son returned to training with Spurs on Thursday and after a gruelling Asian Cup with South Korea, it was no real surprise to see the forward start on the bench yesterday.
The 31-year-old featured in every single minute of the tournament before suffering a 2-0 defeat to Jordan in the semi-final.
Ange Postecoglou turned to Son in the 62nd minute on Saturday, shortly after Pape Matar Sarr levelled things up at 1-1.

Son was instantly handed the armband by vice-captain Cristian Romero after coming on and the forward delivered at a crucial moment for Tottenham.
In the 96th minute, Son delivered an exceptional ball across the box to hand Brennan Johnson a simple tap-in. And James Maddison has praised the returning Spurs star for providing a real moment of quality in the final third.
Maddison lauds Son after Tottenham beat Brighton
Speaking to Spurs Play, Maddison admitted that Postecoglou would have been delighted with the move that led to Johnson’s winner.
“The actual winning goal was a really nice goal – a really good move from the build-up all the way,” the Englishman said. “It’s exactly how the gaffer wants us to play. I think he’ll be happy with that one.”
“The gaffer always goes on about how he wants the other winger at the back post and it’s an absolutely brilliant cross from Sonny,” he added. “That’s the quality he’s got.
“Brennan’s listening and learning and taking on and that’s what the gaffer wants him to do. He’s scored a couple at the back stick now so fair play to him.”

It was refreshing to see our bench packed with first-team quality players yesterday.
Our struggles with injuries this term have been well-documented, which has ultimately left Postecoglou short on many occasions.
But the Aussie boss will be delighted to see two of his second-half subs making an impact and linking up for the winner.
Son will undoubtedly return to the starting XI against Wolves next weekend but it will be intriguing to see who he replaces.
The £22 million man had performed well off the left-hand side for a few games before heading off to the Asian Cup last month. With Richarlison in exceptional form in front of goal, you’d imagine it may be Timo Werner who drops out of the side on Saturday.
