The latest Tottenham injury news as Spurs prepare for a huge clash against Brighton in their hopes for a top four finish this season.

Tottenham are closing in on the top four as they look to make a return to the Champions League for the next campaign. The Lilywhites are fifth, just two points behind Aston Villa in fourth, but they will feel slightly aggrieved that they aren’t level on points.

The north London outfit led twice against Everton last time out, but were pegged back through a stoppage time set-piece, and had to settle for a draw. Ange Postecoglou will be looking for his team to bounce back as they prepare to face Brighton next up.

The Seagulls are in eighth, nine points behind Spurs, but with identical form of two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five Premier League matches. It looks set to be an enticing tie, but one that Tottenham may be boosted by some returns for.

Tottenham injury list

Heung-Min Son could be set to make an instant return to the side after South Korea were dumped out of the AFC Asian Cup by Jordan in the semi-finals. The captain is believed to be back at the club following the exit.

Yves Bissouma has also been missing through international duty, where he represented Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations. They were dumped out of the competition in dramatic fashion to Ivory Coast, putting an end to their hopes of lifting the trophy.

It remains to be seen whether both stars will be thrown straight into the team after an intense month of international duty. There are also a few injury concerns to ponder over, so with that said, here’s a look at the latest news on guaranteed absentees for the clash.

Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso played a big role in filling the gap left by James Maddison when the Tottenham star was missing through injury. The midfielder has suffered an issue of his own though, with a muscle problem that is currently unclear.

The return date of the Argentinian international is also unknown, with the squad options available looking thinner as a result.

Ryan Sessegnon

Injuries have plagued Ryan Sessegnon this season, with a hamstring injury keeping him out of action over the summer and surgery that extended his recovery time. The full-back made some promising progress as he featured for the first time against Burnley in the FA Cup.

However, the former Fulham wonderkid suffered a fresh hamstring issue shortly after, which has kept him out of action again since.
