Tottenham Hotspur fans have criticised Cristian Romero after a rash challenge on Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson yesterday.
Romero returned from a three-match suspension during the week and marked his return with a goal against West Ham.
The Argentine had been suspended following a reckless tackle on Enzo Fernandez in the home defeat to Chelsea last month.
It’s fair to say that Tottenham have missed the 25-year-old, with Micky van de Ven also sidelined until the new year.

Unsurprisingly, Ange Postecoglou has chucked his vice-captain straight back into the backline and Spurs picked up a crucial 4-1 win over Newcastle on Sunday. Tottenham put in a breathtaking performance, with Richarlison netting a brace and Son Heung-Min and Destiny Udogie getting among the goals.
But a moment of ‘madness’ from Romero in the latter stages of the game left Tottenham fans furious on social media.
Tottenham fans furious over Romero challenge
Romero was fortunate to escape further punishment after a late challenge on Callum Wilson in the 81st minute.
Spurs were cruising at the time and 3-0 to the good but the £42 million centre-back put in a very late challenge on the Magpies striker.
He dived into the challenge and stamped on Wilson’s ankle, with referee Chris Kavanagh showing him a yellow card before the VAR cleared the incident.
It’s fair to say Romero was fortunate to escape a red card and the tackle left Tottenham fans frustrated on Twitter, with some stating that Ange Postecoglou needs to ‘have a word’ with the defender.
Of course, Romero has received plenty of criticism during his time at Spurs due to reckless decision-making at times.
His aggressive, front-foot style of defending is a huge weapon for Tottenham and his ball-playing abilities are up there with the best centre-backs in the world.

Yet, he has been labelled a liability at times and it’s hard to understand why he made such a challenge while Spurs were cruising towards a comfortable victory.
Romero has only just returned from a three-match ban and with Van de Ven sidelined, it’s vital that he avoids any further suspensions over the coming weeks.
